Mikati met IMF Executive Director

NNA - In a pivotal meeting held on Friday at the Grand Serail, Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, welcomed the Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund, Mahmoud Mohieldin. The meeting underscored discussions on the evolving relationship between Lebanon and the IMF.

"Today's meeting with Prime Minister Mikati is part of a series of engagements with various Lebanese officials to review the relations between Lebanon and the IMF. It also aims to prepare for the upcoming visit of a Lebanese delegation, led by the Deputy Prime Minister, scheduled mid-this month to Washington to participate in IMF meetings,” Mohieldin stated on emerging.

Responding to inquiries, Mohieldin refuted any suggestions that the IMF has intentions to cancel the agreement signed with Lebanon.

Ptremier Mikati also received at the Grand Serail, the Deputy Director of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), Natalie Buckley, in the presence of the Chairman of the Lebanese-Palestinian Dialogue Committee, Dr. Basil Al-Hassan.

The assistance provided by the Agency to the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon was presented.

The Prime Minister later met with the United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator, Imran Riza, with whom he discussed the situation of the displaced Lebanese from the south and the working mechanism to call on donor countries to support the reconstruction of the south.
